This massive demand for power has recently lead Kahramaa to pre-qualify bidders for the tender to build Qatar's next independent water and power project, which is scheduled to deliver its first power output in late 2016. Qatar is a water-scarce country, where the government has been spending billions of riyals to provide clean drinking water and uninterrupted supply of electricity to its people.
