Director of Medical Tourism Council
Dr Layla Al-Marzouqi director of medical tourism council and member of GHTC. She obtained her degree in medicine and surgery from the Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland and master degree in cardiovascular rehabilitation as a first UAE national to get this degree and executive master in healthcare administration. Dr Layla was involved in setting Dubai health strategic plan until 2015 and was a member of the team, which was formed by his Excellency the director general of Dubai Health Authority, which was given the duty to transfer Department of health and medical services into Dubai Health authority. She was honored to be involved in formulating many of the UAE medical laws. Since joining Dubai Health Authority in 2003, she ranged in posts, firstly as Chief of Clinical Governance Office, and then selected to be Assistant Director of Health Regulation Department (HRD) to have the dual responsibilities of both positions. Then she hold the post of Director /HRD -Dubai Health Authority up to December 2016. On January 2017, Dr. Layla was appointed holding the post of director of Medical Tourism council – DHA. Her experience in developing policy was used in this department through sitting policy and regulation for healthcare professionals and facilities. Meanwhile she got a PHD scholarship from the Please UAE University. Her hard work was recognized by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed, Shiekh Hamdan bin Rashid, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed , Sheikha Fatima bent Mubarak, sheikha Shamsa bent Suhail (UAE first lady) and many others.Her accomplishment extended beyond the UAE border by being a member in a physician information exchange committee, part of international association of medical regulatory authority, being a speaker in many international regulatory conferences and key person in signing a memorandum of understanding with general medical council UK.
