Based in New York, Andrew Canning is a Managing Director in the Construction Practice with overall responsibility for leading the Project Risk strategy across the Nation, ensuring clients are well versed in their overall risk exposure and applicable solutions for their construction endeavors. He is based in New York and has over twenty seven years of experience in the construction arena. Andrew is an expert in providing risk management strategies and value added solutions for construction clients, including practice and project risks, and with the ultimate goal of managing risk to positively impact his client’s balance sheet. His responsibilities include the timely delivery of these services and the introduction of resources from the Marsh family to ensure high client satisfaction. Andrew was recently awarded Risk & Insurance Magazine 2018 Power Broker Award for Construction.

Andrew joined Marsh in 2016 from another national broker where he served in a number of roles within the construction practice. His last role was to lead the client executive practice for construction, where he provided advisory on cutting edge solutions to enhance contractor and project owner exposures, ensure client connectivity across the firm, and lead the client executive team in the provision of exceptional service standards. Andrew also served as a strategic account manager to a number of large national/global contractor clients, using his extensive knowledge of their exposures to provide focused cost-effective practice and project solutions and generating significant balance sheet enhancement and margin improvement.

Prior to this role, Andrew led the wrap-up practice on a regional and then national basis. During his tenure he designed, managed, and serviced a number of wrap-up programs for both owners and contractors including large national rolling programs, combining casualty and property coverage with client focused wrap-up administration, proactive loss control, and claims advocacy to produce superior results for his clients. Programs included the design and implementation of the largest contractor controlled insurance program in the Nation (including the introduction and participation of a captive), and management of an owner controlled program for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan.

Recently, as well as working in his role as Project Risk Leader, Andrew has been responsible for the development and introduction of MWrap 2.0 offering the latest in wrap-up risk management information system technology and Data Navigator, a proprietary innovation from Marsh to allow the integration of wrap-up, claims, loss control and other data sources offering analytical insights and predictive modelling for project risk clients.

Andrew began his extensive risk management career in the UK working with a global energy company, where he worked in the mitigation of financial risk involving offshore oil and gas production and distribution, and the development of power plants.
