IIEC was established in the USA in 1984 as a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization; and has regional offices in Thailand, India and the Philippines. IIEC’s mission is to accelerate the global adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, technologies and practices to enable economic and environmentally sustainable development. IIEC pursues this mission in developing countries and countries in transition through fieldwork undertaken by its regional offices. IIEC has full time local staff in each of its regional offices that are well placed to contribute to regional programs due to their extensive exposure to energy activities in the region and their understanding of cultural issues relevant to the countries. For the past 32 years, IIEC has been providing solutions to the problems posed by the rapidly increasing energy demand in developing and industrializing countries. IIEC has established a niche – as a provider of novel solutions with the flexibility to work simultaneously with multilateral institutions, governments, academic and research organizations industry and non-government organizations. IIEC works with governments and the private sector to develop, implement, and evaluate energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, programs, and projects. IIEC has been the lead consultant on a number of climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy policy, clean energy financing, technology & market assessments, communication & outreach projects, ESCO market assessment and development projects in Asia, funded by a broad range of international agencies. Through these projects IIEC has contacts with extensive set of stakeholders in the energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change sectors in all APEC countries.
