Julianne A. Hunt is Vice President of Scientific Operations at Abide Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapeutics targeting the serine hydrolase family of enzymes. She has more than 19 years of experience in end-to-end pharmaceutical drug development as a research scientist and project manager. She designed and synthesized potential drug candidates for programs in atherosclerosis, immunology, and infectious diseases for ten years at Merck Discovery Chemistry. She then transitioned to roles focused on the business of science in Merck Business and Research Integration, Project and Pipeline Management, Alliance Management, and Strategic Operations. In the latter role, she directed operational support for sourced and collaborative discovery programs, including business oversight of over six hundred external chemistry FTEs and management of shipping and systems logistics across Merck’s external discovery network. She also managed day-to-day operational activities at Merck’s Kenilworth Discovery Site and ran strategic planning and change initiatives such as cross-site facilities consolidation projects.
Dr. Hunt graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude with an A.B. in Chemistry. She received her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Indiana University and completed her NIH postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Chemistry at Princeton University.
