Dato’ Arif Siddiqui is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia and the Group CIO of Islamic Banking Standard Chartered. As CIO of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, Dato’ Arif oversees the full spectrum of Technology and Operations and is responsible for systems development, technology support and banking operations for the Bank’s retail and wholesale banking businesses in Malaysia. Cognizant of the trickle-down effect in an organization, Dato’ Arif has actively worked towards fostering a results-oriented culture that’s based on innovation whereby people are empowered to maximize their potential. His ability to elicit high quality output from his staff is in line with the respect he naturally commands by way of his personality. His greatest achievement was in 2012 when he led a project that revamped the technological infrastructure of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia and successfully implemented a state-of-the-art core banking system. The project required Dato’ Arif’s skills in mobilizing over 1,000 employees across multiple geographies including Malaysia, India and Singapore. Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia currently employs more than 2,500 employees. During his tenure as the CIO, Dato’ Arif was also the Chief Executive Officer of Scope International Malaysia, Standard Chartered’s Global Shared Services Centre in Kuala Lumpur. He joined Scope International Malaysia in 2005 as the Head of International Software Centre Malaysia (ISCM) and was appointed as the CEO in 2008. Under his leadership, Scope International provides a wide range of services to the Standard Chartered Bank in more than 70 countries. Scope’s services include software and systems development, wholesale and consumer banking operations, contact centre, information technology and helpdesk services. Scope’s software division, International Software Centre Malaysia (ISCM) houses the largest software development centre in Malaysia. Prior to joining Scope, Dato’ Arif was Head of Information Technology and Head of Information Systems at the Standard Chartered Bank in Pakistan where he first joined the Bank in 1990. Dato’ Arif is the Country Champion for Seeing is Believing and oversees other sustainability initiatives at Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia. Dato’ Arif lives in Kuala Lumpur with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys cricket, photography and theatre performances. Dato’ Arif sits on the Industry Advisory Board Member (Business) of Inti International University.
