Hind Al Mualla is a people person. As KHDA’s Chief of Engagement, her passion for people and communication ensures that the organization can sustain quality and improve accessibility to education and learning through engagement. Responsible for all communication channels including media, marketing, internal communications and social media, she works closely with the teams to facilitate engagement within KHDA and throughout the wider community. For Al Mualla, interaction between stakeholders is the key to success. “Engagement is about communication and sharing of best practice, new ideas and fresh innovation. We organise many events which give education professionals the opportunity to do this. We make it happen,” she said. Prior to her role in engagement, Al Mualla’s main goal was to innovate the way KHDA manages its human capital. In 2008, the team she was part of was responsible for implementing ‘the office-less office,” resulting in greater cooperation and communication between colleagues. In 2012, the team initiated the working mothers programme, giving mothers of young children at KHDA greater working flexibility. Commenting on the changes she helped to introduce Al Mualla said: “An organization must innovate to progress. We always try new things, sometimes based on scientific evidence, sometimes based on a hunch.” With 15 different curriculums in Dubai, engaging with so many stakeholders can be challenging. However she believes this diversity is one the most exciting aspects of her role. “We work with people from many different cultures and backgrounds, both within KHDA and outside. But we all share the same vision to supply Dubai learners with a unique education of the highest possible quality. Everyone in education is passionate about what they do and keen to promote change and development.”
