Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC):
The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council is the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi’s urban environments, and the expert authority behind the visionary Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 Urban Structure Framework Plan published September 2007. The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council defines the shape of the Emirate, ensuring factors such as sustainability, infrastructure capacity, community planning and quality of life, by overseeing development across the city and the Emirate as a whole. The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council ensures best practice in planning for both new and existing urban areas.
Ibrahim Al Hmoudi, Transport Planning Department Manager, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC):
Eng. Ibrahim Al Hmoudi is the Special Projects Manager at UPC. He is a Civil Engineer with extensive experience in all key areas of the sustainable transportation planning sector, and Urban and Maritime Planning. He has significant experience in strategic multi-modal transportation master plans and the integration between land-uses and transportation.
In his current position at the UPC, his main responsibilities included:
To manage the UPC Transportation Team and to ensure that all the Transportation projects are delivered effectively and up to the expected standards.
Project Director of key UPC transportation projects, including the Abu Dhabi Urban Street Design Manual and Abu Dhabi Plan Maritime 2030.
Overseeing the development of transport strategies, policies and standards for inclusion in the strategic framework plans produced by the UPC, so that sustainable transport systems are fully integrated with land use plans.
To influence and support the transport planning undertaken by other government agencies and developers to ensure transport outcomes are consistent with the strategic directions of the 2030 Framework Plans.
