Marco Giacomelli heads Generali Global Health (GGH), the Generali group’s dedicated provider of International Private Health Insurance solutions for globally mobile people and groups. An actuary with a 20+ year career at Generali, Marco is the current Chairman of the International Employee Benefits Association (IEBA), and a Fellow of the UK Institute of Directors. Marco joined Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. in 1994 as a reinsurance specialist in the Life Department of the Generali HO in Trieste, Italy. In October of 1996, Marco moved to New York, USA, as the technical and actuarial Coordinator for all Generali group Life companies in Latin America, and technical consultant to the Ætna Generali global benefits network. In January 2000 Marco relocated to Manila, Philippines, as Vice President of Generali Pilipinas Life Assurance Co., and directed the company’s bancassurance division and its activity in conjunction with local banking partner Banco de Oro. In July 2001, he moved back to the USA as Regional Director of the Generali Employee Benefits network (GEB) for Latin America, the Caribbean and the South East US region. He was appointed Manager of GEB’s London regional office in August 2005, and Director of Generali UK Branch Employee Benefits & Life division in February 2006. In November 2009 Marco moved to GEB’s HO in Bruxelles as Technical Director, was appointed COO in 2011 and Chief Insurance Officer in 2014, with direct responsibility over the network’s captive services, reinsurance, multinational pooling, health & wellness, legal, underwriting, actuarial and risk management services.
