Roy is the Global Estimating Lead and Project Controls & Estimating Department Manager in the Vancouver office. In his various roles he ensures that there is consistency and quality in all capital cost estimates produced, benchmarking and working on developing Fluor’s global mining capabilities from an overall project controls and estimating perspective. His career spans 30 years, working within engineering and construction fields on commercial, infrastructure, industrial and multiple mining projects. His largest mining project undertaken was in Mongolia. University of Cape Town, South Africa graduate having served four years in the military as a naval officer. A bursary with Gold Fields of SA Ltd. enabled him to acquire the necessary mining experience. Immigrated to Vancouver, BC over 20 years ago where he established his career by honing his professional quantity surveying skills in the mining industry. Served on the CIQS-BC Board and President in 2012. CIQS fellow in 2013 and Fluor Fellow in 2015 for his knowledge and expertise in estimating. Active member of AACE International for over 20 years and member of the International Construction Measurement Standard (ICMS) Standard Setting Committee in 2016 / 2017. Married with two children (ages 22 + 20), enjoys the outdoors, reading, jogging and following sporting events.
