He possess a degree in Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, USA. During his 30 years of experience, Ahmed served the refinery in different assignments as he started in Technical department Inspection section in 1986 as Inspection Engineer. His work dedication and leadership qualified him to hold the position of Inspector Supervisor before he promoted to be Planning and store Manager in Maintenance Department. His service was extended to manage the section of Mechanical Projects which enabled him to lead huge number of projects safely and successfully. He was also appointed as Project, Planning & coordination Manager in Maintenance Department. From 2006 until present he has been handling the responsibility of Maintenance General Manager toward a safe and excellence era. Ahmed participated in nine different Turnarounds including his assignment as an Integrated Event Manager in 2013 Turnaround. Whereas, more than 10,000 employees including contractors worker under his leadership that resulted in 5.2 million man-hours. Ahmed throughout his career, focused significantly on Safety, He sponsored several Safety programs lead to excellent achievement of contractor safety record with 45 million man hours without lost time injury (more than 5 years) as of July 2015. Ahmed led the effort of Samref Business Teams concept review. The study outcome resulted in remarkable business process improvements and work streamlining among different departments. Ahmed also, spread his effort and led Samref knowledge Management team with an objective of building the base and strategies of knowledge sharing between different generations. As part of his interest on knowledge transfer, he was one of the PETROTECH Organizing committee members from 2009 – 2011 which is the premier refining and petrochemical event in the Middle East. Ahmed has attended numerous forums and workshops to enhance wide range of management and technical competencies as part of Samref’s commitment in Safety, reliability and environmental protection.
