Belén López Alonso holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and in Pharmaceutical Marketing from the University of Alcalá. She completed her academic education with an MBA in Management and Communication at the IE Business School in Madrid. She started her professional career at Rhone Poulenc (Aventis) as a sales rep, moving into Abbott Laboratories as Product Manager and Marketing Manager and Sales Manager in the areas of anti-infectious, oncology and erectile dysfunction. She was responsible for the gynecological surgery unit and diagnosis of breast cancer at Johnson & Johnson and later responsible for the cardiology unit at the same company. In 2006 she returned to Abbott Laboratories in Paris where she held the position of Commercial Director for Europe, returning in 2008 to Spain to create the new Strategic Communication and Patients Unit. From then on, she became member of the Executive Committee and led the Abbott separation in 2013, with the creation of a new patient-centered biopharmaceutical company, AbbVie, in which she continues to work in the position of Strategic Communication, Patients and AbbVie Care Director and is a member of AbbVie’s Executive Committee.
