Chiara von Gunten is Director of Standard Development at Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) Foundation, a leading not for profit foundation dedicated to promoting sustainable and resilient infrastructure development, upgrade and financing globally. Chiara is responsible for the development and implementation of SuRe® – the Standard for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure, a global voluntary standard which aims to advance sustainability and resilience best practice throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure projects globally. With support from the Swiss Government and international experts, Chiara leads the development and implementation of the standard; manages relationships with partners, experts and stakeholders; and raises awareness about the benefits of applying SuRe® for infrastructure project developers, financiers and public sector institutions globally. Prior to joining GIB, Chiara headed business development and account management in Switzerland and other European countries for Z/Yen Group, a British commercial think tank and consultancy. Between 2010 and 2015, she has worked with clients in the public, civil society and financial sector on issues related to sustainability, regulation, innovation and change management. She is the author of numerous publications including “Financing the Transition: Sustainable Infrastructure in Cities” (March 2015). Previous professional experience includes working in CSR and sustainable development with Lombard Odier & Cie in Switzerland and the City of London Corporation in the UK. Chiara holds a Masters in International Relations from the Graduate Institute (2007) and a Masters in Environment & Development from the London School of Economics & Political Science (2009).
