Mr. Hanrieder’s career with Munich Re commenced in 1990, having joined the Apprenticeship ‘Chartered Insurer’ at Munich Re. After a brief stint in the Marketing Department in the United Kingdom in 1993, Mr. Hanrieder started to specialize his career in Casualty Underwriting, covering both Facultative and Treaty in Public, Products, Professional Indemnity and Motor Liability, Motor Own Damage, Medical Malpractice and Personal Accident Insurance Treaties. The territories of his responsibilities progressively extended from Eastern Europe, UK, Greece, Cyprus, Scandinavian countries, Netherlands, Israel to Middle East Africa. Possessing a wealth of more than 10 years of in-depth underwriting experience with cross-cultural dimensions, Mr. Hanrieder contributed actively by being the Project Leader and participating in various Topic Networks/Working Groups ranging from Medical Malpractice Insurance, Underwriting Year VBM and Development and Implementation of RISC/Casualty (IT Tool to administrative facultative Casualty risks/policies). His value-added contributions are widely acknowledged by his peer groups and the management. Having fully demonstrated his leadership competencies across diverse geographical locations and cultures in addition to his skills in intercultural communication that is uncontested in the Company and tangible also in terms of acquisition results, Mr. Hanrieder was entrusted with his previous position as Head of Casualty for Middle East / Africa until 2008. Since 2009 Mr. Hanrieder has been heading Munich Re Kuala Lumpur Branch and has successfully steered the portfolio during a soft market circle as well as managed it profitably after the implementation of the new risk based capital model in 2009.
