Dr.Aldo Cipriano is an Electrical Engineer and Master in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chile, and Doktor-Ingenieur, degree obtained at the Technische Universität München, Germany. Degree in 1973, has developed in Chile and abroad extensive professional and academic career. In academia, Dr.Aldo Cipriano is since 1974 Professor at the School of Engineering UC, where he has held several positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for two terms, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Director of Research and Innovation , Director of Outreach and DICTUC, academic Deputy Director and Head of the Graduate Program of the School of Engineering, academic representative to the Board of School, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Head of Mining UC Center. He has been a member of the Superior Council of the University on behalf of scholars, representing the Rector Committees Search Dean of the Faculty of Communications, Medicine and Agriculture and Forestry, and member of the Commissions Career Academic School of Rating Medicine and Institute of Aesthetics. He has also been professor and researcher at the University of Chile, researcher at the U. T. München and visiting professor at the U. Karlsruhe. He is currently Director of Graduate School of Engineering UC. For 40 years he has developed teaching, research and consultancy in the discipline of Automation and Control. He is the author and co-author of 4 books and book chapters, and more than 150 publications in journals and proceedings of international conferences. In the professional field, he is a founding partner of three engineering firms, has been President of DICTUC S.A., a subsidiary of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and has participated in two other companies directories. He has been speaker of seminars and scientific work in countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe, including Algeria, Austria, Korea, China, Spain, United States, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Russia, South Africa and Switzerland. He is former President of the ACCA, Past Chairman of TC on Low Cost Automation IFAC, IEEE Senior Member, IEEE 2006 Eminent Engineer Latin America and Full Member of the Academy of Engineering of Chile. In 2012 Dr. Aldo was recognized by Fondecyt for his career as a researcher and the Joint IEA-IEEE Outstanding Engineer Award “For outstanding contributions Issue in electrical engineering and automation and in engineering education and accreditation”. In 2014 was awarded the School Engineering Award UC 2014 “For his outstanding academic work of teaching, research and transfer, and have reached an undisputed recognition for its positive impact on the community outside the school, the University and Society”.
