Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab (“Dr Amir”) is currently the Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, a strategic agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia and the agency that monitors sovereignty of the country. He has more than 20 years of ICT working experience in the telecom and IT sector in the Government as well as in the semi-government and private sectors. Through his leadership at Cybersecurity Malaysia, Dr Amir managed to contribute to Malaysia’s achievement in attaining number #3 rank in the world, in the 2014 International Telecom Union (ITU) Global Cyber Security Index and becoming the first World Trustmark Alliance Chairman to be reappointed to a second term, was selected to receive an ASEAN Award as the Outstanding Chief Information/Security Officer Award. He is also a POLCYB (The Society of The Policing of Cyberspace) Non-Executive Board of Directors for year 2015 to 2018. He served as a National Committee Member of the e-Sovereignty Committee chaired by the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, the National Chairman of the Industry Standards Committee on Information Technology, Communications and Multimedia (ISC G), Chairman of Impartial Committee for Malaysian Software Testing Board (MTSB), Board member of the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), Chairman of PIKOM Information Security Committee and also a Board member of Cloud Security Alliance, Malaysia Chapter. He is also an OIC Task Force Member on ICT and Cyber Security and a Fellow at Malaysian Institute of Management. Dr Amir was also appointed by the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia as one of the high-profile 11 member Independent Panel Committee of the Ministry of Education chaired by Tun Zaki Hamid, the former Chief Justice, to study National Examination Board examination systems. Dr Amir holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering (ITEE), University of Queensland, Australia. Dr Amir also holds two Masters degrees, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Duqubue, Iowa, USA, a Masters in Information Technology from National University of Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Science Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Academically, Dr Amir is an Adjunct Professor at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and was one at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Malaysia and currently also serves as an Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) Member of the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). A calculated risk-taker with deep technical industry knowledge, Dr Amirudin had built a strong reputation for developing effective and unique strategies and incubating new models and designs. He maintains a well-deserved national and international reputation in his field where he had been invited as keynote speaker in various local and international conferences and featured regularly in the local TV, Radio, newspapers, magazines and online medias.
