A specialist in tunnelling and rock engineering with over 33 years of experience, Dr. Verman is currently the President of an international technical committee on “Hard Rock Excavation”. He has also served as Vice President for the International Society for Rock Mechanics. In his extensive career, Dr. Verman was Geodata Engineering India’s Technical Director, Director of Tunnelling & Geotechnical at Halcrow and Vice Chairman of the Global Tunnelling Group at Golder Associates. He has been involved in numerous projects ranging from metros to rock slopes and buildings to bridges. He has worked on the Singapore MRT, the Dubai Metro and numerous studies under the World Bank to bring hydropower to the Himalayas and South Asia. Holding a Ph.D. in Rock Mechanics with a focus in tunnelling, he has published over 70 papers and is currently writing three books on “Hard Rock TBM”, “Lessons Learnt from Tunnelling through Difficult Ground Conditions” and “Best Practice Guide for Tunnelling”.
