Dr. Muhammad Imran is the Group Head Islamic Banking at UBL Ameen. He has more than 10 years’ experience of working at Senior Management positions in the Islamic Banking industry. Dr. Muhammad Imran launched Standard Chartered Sadiq in Pakistan as the Head of Islamic Banking at Standard Chartered Bank. He then joined Bank Islami as the Head of Retail & Consumer Banking. Under his leadership, Bank Islami’s network grew from six branches to more than 200 branches making Bank Islami Pakistan’s second largest Islamic Bank. Dr. Muhammad Imran has also been a member of Governor State Bank’s Task Force to make ‘Strategic Road Map’ for Islamic Banking in Pakistan. He also has the privilege of working directly under the chairmanship of Justice (R) Muhammad Taqi Usmani at Center for Islamic Economics for more than five years. Dr. Muhammad Imran has an Electrical Engineering degree from N.E.D University, Karachi and MBA from IBA, Karachi. He is an IBA Gold Medalist. Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Karachi. His thesis titled “New Avenues in Islamic Wealth Management” was supervised by Dr. Qazi Masood, IBA Karachi. Dr. Muhammad Imran has been a visiting faculty member of IBA Karachi for the last 10 years.
