Dr. P Govinda Rao is currently working in Qatar Petroleum as Senior Environmental Analyst since 2005. Before joining in QP, he worked as a Climatologist at the Department of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (1997-2004), State of Qatar and Qatar Aeronautical College (2004-05). Dr Rao has worked with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (New Delhi) during 1988-97 as Principal Scientific Officer and Director before joining at Doha. His first employment was with the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (Pune) during 1982-1988 as a Junior Scientific Officer. Dr Govinda Rao has a Master’s degree in Geophysics (1977-80) and Master’s degree in Geo-engineering (1980-82), both from Andhra University, India. He has obtained his Ph. D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology –Delhi in 1993 for his study on Climate Changes over Mahanadi river basin of India. He was a Post-doctoral Research fellow at the University of East Anglia, Norwich during 1993-94, awarded by the British Council, UK. He has about 30 research publications to his credit in national and international journals.
