Dr Robert MacFarlane is Assistant Director (UK Resilience Doctrine, Training and Standards) in the Civil Contingencies Secretariat, UK Cabinet Office. He has oversight of the UK Emergency Planning College and leads the programme of Central Government Emergency Response Training. He is an OECD expert on crisis management and was one of the principal authors of the UK Joint Emergency Services Doctrine. Rob has led the development of British Standards on Crisis Management (PAS200 and BS11200) and Organizational Resilience (BS65000), and he chairs the British Standards Institution Societal and Security Management Technical Committee. He has a PhD in geo-spatial analysis from the University of Aberdeen, and a Doctorate in Business Administration in crisis management from the University of Durham. Rob is an Honorary Member of the BCI, a member of the BCI 20:20 foresight group and a member of the DRII Future Vision Committee.
