Faisal Al Shammari is a Health Informatics Manager at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In his 14+ years there he has built and managed various innovative processes and projects in support of patient enhanced care, clinical informatics, information technology and communication. Due to regional emphasis on the Saudi e-Health strategy, he has focused in turning clinical data into actionable information, beneficial outcomes and regional knowledge. This has led to him being an establishing member of Saudi Health Information management group (SHIMA) as one of the top HIMs professionals in the region. He represented the country of Saudi Arabia at the International Federation for Health Information Management (IFHIMA 2013) under the guidance of the World Health Organization – WHO. He helped develop the framework of the privacy and security guidelines for the Saudi Health Information Exchange. He actively participated in establishment of the Saudi Healthcare Data Dictionary, in participation with the Saudi Health Council that defined areas of interoperability amongst the top regional government hospitals. Faisal graduated with a BS followed by a MIS from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. He was also certified in 2012 as a HIM with the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
