Gopal Prasad Choudhary is the Chief of Security, Tata Steel Limited since Jan 2013. He is also Project Director of state-of-the-art Integrated Security Solution Project being implemented in Tata Steel and Team leader of Disaster Management Competency Team. Gopal migrated to the corporate world in 2009 and joined as Corporate Head of Physical Security and Information Risk Management and Policy Compliance Group of Wipro Limited heading the Global Security Group of Wipro Limited. In this role, he was responsible for enterprise wide security, Strategic intelligence, Converged Security, Surveillance, Crisis Management and loss and fraud prevention and investigation. Gopal has been driving convergence of Physical security with IT, surveillance and counter-surveillance and Public Private Partnership at various locations in India for inclusive security since 2009. He was also elected as Secretary of the Electronics City Industries’ Association (ELCIA), Bangalore, known as the Silicon Valley of India. He is a Law graduate and an alumni of Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai and National Industrial Security Academy, Hyderabad. Prior to his migration to Corporate World in 2009, he served the Government of India and the State Government for more than 18 years as a short service Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, as a member of Central Civil Service (CISF), and as head of operations, Special Task Force of Jharkhand Police. He has the distinction of serving in four active theatres of insurgency and terrorism in LTTE infested Sri Lanka, ULFA infested North East, terrorist infested Doda in Jammu and Kashmir and naxal infested Jharkhand. He was also a member of the state level teams constituted to deal with organized crimes and narco trade in Jharkhand. A certified National Aviation Security Auditor by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Govt. of India, he participated in the bilateral India-UK Aviation Security Seminar in the UK as part of the delegation of Government of India. As a security consultant of the CISF Security Consultancy Group, he conducted several security consultancies and technical surveys of airports, power plants, jails, museums etc.
