Mr. Sandwick has been a Swiss private banker since 1993, and an investment banker since 1989. His expertise is in Islamic wealth and asset management and Islamic asset securitization. Mr. Sandwick is an innovator in Islamic banking, creating the first structures for a sukuk fund, sukuk participation note, Saudi REIT, and European corporate sukuk. He also created the first practical Islamic portfolio management allocations and professional-use Islamic mutual fund databases. Mr. Sandwick did his undergraduate studies at Georgetown (International Finance) and has a Master’s (Development Banking) from American University. In June 2016 Mr. Sandwick is scheduled to complete his Doctor in Business Administration (Islamic Asset Management) at Grenoble Ecole de Management, one of Europe’s leading business schools. In January 2015 he was awarded a prestigious grant from the SABIC Chair in Islamic Financial Markets at Imam Mohammed Islamic University in support of his doctoral research. He was a director at the Middle East Policy Council, and later served at Deutsche Bank (Suisse) S.A. and Banque Leu S.A. (Credit Suisse). He was then managing director of Encore Management S.A., in partnership with UBS, before founding the world’s first Islamic portfolio management company in Geneva, Switzerland, Safa Investment Services in 2012. Mr. Sandwick is frequently published in Arab and western media including numerous academic and professional book chapters, television and conference appearances, and magazine and newspaper articles. Mr. Sandwick has taught numerous Master Classes on Islamic wealth and asset management, and speaks frequently on Islamic asset management for corporations and universities. Since 2012 he has been teaching graduate courses in Islamic Asset Management at the University of Paris-Dauphine. Mr. Sandwick was born in California, but his family lived in Bangladesh, Columbia, Abu Dhabi, London, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Since 1993 he has lived in Geneva, Switzerland.
