Jørgen Vestbo is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Centre for Respiratory Medicine and Allergy at the University of Manchester and an honorary consultant at the University Hospital South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. His main research interests are epidemiology and clinical research in COPD, with several high-impact publications in this area. He co-chaired the ECLIPSE study aimed at better characterizing COPD. He has also been on steering committees for several large COPD trials and clinical cohort studies. He has been chair of the Scientific Committee of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). Jørgen Vestbo is currently serving as past-president of the European Respiratory Society.
