Kamani Gopalakrishna is a pharmacist by profession and hold a Masters of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Singapore. She has been in regional regulatory roles close to 15 years of her pharmaceutical industry career. Before she moved into her current role as Regulatory Affairs Head for Emerging Markets at the corporate office of Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany, she was Regulatory Affairs Head of the BI Regional Coordination Center in Singapore covering Far East Asia, ASEAN, Middle East, North Africa & India. Her experience includes clinical development strategizing for Emerging Markets to allow for earlier registrations in these markets. In her career, she has also worked cross functionally and in many international projects to facilitate the understanding and cooperation needed to address the challenges, opportunities and to bridge the cultural understandings between these markets and the ICH countries. In order to achieve this, understanding the regulatory needs in these countries and managing/translating the EMA & US FDA development strategies to these markets is key. In her current role, Kamani is responsible for countries ranging from East Asia, Middle East, Africa, Turkey, South East Asia, India, Latin America and Central America. She currently has a team which works on a portfolio of products within the following Therapeutic Areas: Cardiovascular Diseases, Oncology, Metabolic Diseases, Respiratory Diseases, Immunology and CNS.
