Maria J. Almenar Martin [Barcelona, Spain – 1980] holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Barcelona, Spain, and an Executive Master in Management from the Solvay Business School of Economics and Management in Brussels, Belgium. She also holds two diplomas in risk management and safety at work, and in industrial hygiene. Almenar spent the first five years of her career in plant engineering, process safety and SHE advisor positions in two production sites of two global leaders in petrochemical industry, based in Barcelona. In 2010 Almenar moved to Brussels, Belgium, where she was offered 6 months training at the European Commission as advisor at the REACH unit (Directorate Enterprise & Industry). After this assignment she worked for the FECC (European Association of Chemical Distributors) based in Brussels, as Responsible Care & Logistics Manager. In 2013 Almenar became Regional SHE & Quality Manager for France & Benelux at Azelis. Her responsibilities included the implementation of regional ISO 9001 certification and follow up and implementation of European and local legislation on SHE areas, with an impact on the Azelis France and Benelux operations. In 2015 Almenar was appointed Head of Group SHEQ, a position she currently holds, where she is responsible of all SHEQ related activities for the Azelis Group, covering EMEA, APAC and Americas regions. In her spare time, Almenar enjoys playing the piano, travelling, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family, her source of motivation. In 2015 Almenar was appointed Head of Group SHEQ, a position she currently holds, where she is responsible of all SHEQ related activities for the Azelis Group, covering EMEA, APAC and Americas regions. In her spare time, Almenar enjoys playing the piano, travelling, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family, her source of motivation.
