He graduated in banking and finance studies from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana in 1996, obtaining the title of graduate economist. He began his business career in 1996 as a broker for the stockbroking company Bema d.o.o. in Ljubljana. He then went on to work at Bank Austria Creditanstalt d.d. in Ljubljana, where between 1997 and 2004 he went from stockbroker to head of the securities department, head of the global securities services division, procurator and head of the asset management and securities trading division. At the pension and disability insurance corporation Kapitalska družba pokojninskega in invalidskega zavarovanja, d.d., between 2004 and 2006 he worked first as director of the investments department and administrator of the Closed Mutual Pension Fund for Civil Servants, then later he was appointed head of the capital investment management department.Up until 2009 he continued his professional path as managing director of the investment company Poteza naložbe, and from June 2009 to August 2012 as CEO and member of the management board of PDP d.d., the state owned restructuring manager. Since September 2012 he has been employed at Abanka d.d., as executive director for corporates. On 28 December 2015 Matej Golob Matzele joined the management board of Abanka d.d., where he is the Chief Sales Officer, responsible for retail and corporate. He is also in charge of Abanka’s digital transformation program.
