Graduated in Business Administration and with post-graduation in Management of Non-profits organizations, Merula is president of ABRALE (Brazilian Lymphoma and Leukemia Society) and ABRASTA (Brazilian Association of Thalassemia). Since 2000 she has been dedicating herself to develop programs that strengthens the social control and improve the health system, as well as is part of the board of international networks such as The Lymphoma Coalition and Alianza Latina. Regarding her social entrepreneurial profile, Merula was chosen/named in 2008 by ASHOKA as “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” and received the same recognition in 2014 from Schwab Foundation.
