Michael has 16 years of experience in risk management as consultant and regulator. He graduated in mathematics and physics at Bonn University, started his professional career 2000 at Mummert Consulting as an IT-consultant for ICAAP and Basel-II-projects. 2004 Michael joined BaFin, Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. He worked for different sections of Q RM, BaFin´s Department for Risk Modelling, which covers risk models in the banking and insurance industry. Michael has long experience as an onsite auditor, eg. for credit portfolio models, internal rating based approaches (IRBA) as well as for operational risk, economic capital, counterparty credit risk and Solvency II. In 2011 he graduated as a certified risk manager. He is member in several international working groups at BCBS (eg. Supervisory Implementation Group for the banking book (SIG BB) and Risk Measurement Group (RMG)), at EBA (eg. Task Force for Supervisory Benchmarking; TFSB) and at ECB.
