Michael has been with KBR for 20 years, involved in engineering design supervision and project management of major upstream and downstream projects worldwide. Prior to KBR, he spent 20 years with Exxon Production in various upstream supervisory positions in Reservoir, Drilling, Production, and Civil Construction. This split in his career path provided Michael with the somewhat unique perspective of having spent significant time on both sides of the mega Project fence. Michael’s module experience is probably his most notable achievement (and current passion). It can be traced back to his early offshore drilling and production roots around the US Gulf Coast and Gulf of Mexico where he participated in offshore and onshore field developments, but includes a major gas plant modularization effort in the Rockies – 270+ modules built and shipped from Pocatello, Idaho to La Barge Wyoming. More recently, he has been involved in the coordination of the module effort for a Gas to Liquids (GTL) plant in Nigeria as well as module planning coordination of various LNG as well as downsteam and chemical facilities on the Gulf Coast. Currently, Michael is one of KBR’s modularization experts, having developed early feasibility studies for many of their clients and followed through with subsequent module planning and project execution models. A recent goal of his was achieved just last October, where 5 years of industry wide team work culminated in the successful development and presentation of information required by CII to elevate “Planning for Modularization” to the level of newest Best Practice. This effort began with the development of CII’s RT-283 research paper by a dedicated module savvy industry team of individuals. This effort subsequently fueled the development of Doctorial research, a 5 part Modularization Toolkit, and the formation of the CII Module Community of Practice (MCOP), currently co-chaired by Michael. For 2016, Michael hopes to guide the CII MCOP through the development of a set of Modularization Training modules for Industry use.
