Professor A. Bannari is a Canadian scientist, acting since last September 2014 as a Chair of the Geoinformatics Department at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Kingdom of Bahrain. Before joining the AGU, he was a professor of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems at the University of Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) during 17 years. Previously, he taught at the Space Science Engineering Department at the Polytechnic of Montreal, the Applied Geomatics Department at the Sherbrook University, and the Geomatics Sciences Department at Laval University in Canada. As well, Prof. Bannari worked for the SPAR Aerospace Limited industry (Montreal) in the field of small satellites optical sensors design and conceptualization. He worked at the University of Arizona in Tucson and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. He contributes with many of his graduate students in the preliminary studies of the Canadian Hyperspectral program managed by the Canadian Space Agency and the Canadian Centre for Remote Sensing for the HERO mission. Professor Bannari supervised more than 48 theses (Ph.D., Master, etc.). He is the author and co-author of more than 176 scientific works (book, books chapters, publications, etc.). His scientific contributions has been cited and used in 64 books of information technology worldwide, and he has received different Canadian and international scientific awards.
