Zuriah Abdul Rahman is a Professor in Insurance and Risk Management from the Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. She was previously the Director of AAGBS and had managed to steward the school (which is one of the oldest) and became the biggest graduate business school in Malaysia with a total enrolment close to 2,000 post graduate students from 2007 to 2013. Zuriah has been teaching in Insurance, Risk Management and Takaful the last 28 years. She has undertaken various research and consultancy projects in takaful in Malaysia (for the Malaysian Takaful Association) and overseas, which include, USA (under the Fulbright Scholar program, University of Texas at Austin), UK (under the Visiting Scholar program, Durham University) and Iran (under the Visiting Professor program for University of Sistan Baluchestan). She has worked previously in the Insurance industry for more than 6 years since 1977 to 1982, in General Insurance, Life Insurance and Insurance Broking. Her wide experience and later involvement in Takaful or Islamic insurance undertaking has resulted in many writings on Takaful and publications, which include books, Islamic Insurance, the 21st Century Innovation and Risk Management under McGraw-Hill Publication (Malaysia), Wealth Management in Islam (University Press, UiTM), Companion to Financial Services Marketing: Islamic Perspective on Risk and Insurance Marketing (Routledge, UK) and also publication in many reputable journals, Qualitative Research in Financial Markets, Emerald, UK, Journal of King Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia, Asian Institute of Finance, Malaysia. With her vast experience and contributions in academia and the industry, Zuriah has been appointed as a Council member of the Professional Insurance Body, Malaysia under the auspices of Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII), the Takaful Examination Board member of the Institute of Banking and Finance Malaysia (IBFIM) and Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) as well as a lifetime member of the Fulbright Association of Malaysia. Her public lecture has taken her to many countries around the world since 2001 and topics ranged from Takaful, to Global Business Issues and Enterprise Risk Management. She has also been appointed to many Accreditation Bodies both locally and abroad and assessed many universities and colleges program pertaining to the discipline in Takaful, Risk Management and Insurance.
