Reena is the Associate General Counsel for Synthetic Genomics, Inc., a pre-IPO synthetic biology company founded by Craig Venter, focused on technology and development of advanced methods to create next generation renewable and sustainable biology-based products, including pharmaceuticals, nutritional products, agricultural solutions, and biofuels. Reena has over fifteen years of in-house experience  and her current practice involves driving SGI’s licensing and commercialization strategies as well as IP portfolio development. Before joining SGI, Reena was an intellectual property attorney at BP, Plc in the renewable energy space. Prior to BP, Reena served as an intellectual property attorney for Ionis Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer, Inc.  Reena obtained her undergraduate degree in genetics/molecular and cellular biology from the University of California, Davis, graduate degree in molecular cellular biology from San Francisco State University and her law degree from California Western School of Law.
