From 1978 to 2002, he worked in Melentiev Energy Systems Institute, the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Irkutsk, where he created and then headed the Laboratory of Risk Problems in Energy. From 2002 to 2005, he was head of the scientific research division in the Strategic Research Center of the Russian Emergency Control Ministry. From 2005 to 2011, he held the position of “Risks Analysis and HCE” center director at “Gazprom VNIIGAZ,” and since 2011, he has served as director of the “Risks Analysis” center in NIIgazeconomika LLC. With 180+ scientific publications in Russian and foreign editions, he is the author or co-author of 20 scientific monographs dealing with safety issues and risk in energy analysis and management. He is also a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the “Oil and Gas” section and the President of the Russian Scientific Society for Risk Analysis.
