Steven Ross

Dr Steven Ross is a Senior formulation scientist at south UK based CDMO Custom Pharma Services, where he conducts research into crystallization screening techniques and continuous manufacturing processes for the development of multi-component crystalline drugs. He was born in Ashford, Kent and attended the University of Greenwich where he obtained his BSc in Biomedical Science, and later his earned his PhD working on continuous cocrystal manufacture via Hot-Melt Extrusion, in collaboration with Pfizer. After continuing his research at Greenwich as a research associate for a number of years, Steven moved to Cubi-Tech extrusion Principal scientist to lead a team in the development of novel drug formulations. His research predominantly revolves around developing methods of cocrystal and Salt processing with a focus on continuous manufacture and overcoming reported disadvantages to current processes, the development of novel computational and experimental screening methods for crystalline drugs and the development of drug-loaded 3D filaments for 3D printing purposes. In addition to this, stevens time in industry has allowed him to gain considerable experience in common tableting and encapsulation processes, solid dispersion development and manufacture as well as expertise in most common drug characterization techniques. Steven has already published over 20 research articles, 2 book chapters and has delivered numerus podium presentations at national and international conferences in his young career.
