Dr Rafick is the CEO of Munich Re Retakaful (MRR) and started his career as a physician with the Malaysian Armed Forces. After 13 years in the medical field he took a dive into the insurance/takaful industry. His experience is largely in management, business development, medical underwriting and claims. His broad experience in medicine and insurance helps the Malaysian Insurance Industry. His exposure in medicine, disability, reinsurance and direct insurance in the region has helped the various stake holders in the insurance industry to achieve a balance and sustainable relationship between policyholders and takaful companies. He is an active community member and support various community related functions in management. He sits on board of several NGO’s and Joint Management Bodies. In Jan 2009 he was honored by The New Straits Times as one of the “Heroes 2008” for his contribution to the community during the landslide tragedy in Bukit Antarabangsa, Malaysia.
