Process Safety and Risk Analysis Expert
Giovanni has 40 years of experience in major engineering and consulting companies (Snamprogetti, D’Appolonia, RINA Consulting and RAMSE) on Risk analysis and Process Safety for Industrial Plants (Safety Reports according to Seveso Directive, QRA/FERA Study, HAZOP/HAZID, SIL Assessment, RAM) and he has gained knowledge on Oil&Gas, Petrochemical & Chemical plants, transportation systems both with reference to onshore and offshore installations (from FEED to EPC design phase).
Giovanni graduated in Nuclear Engineering (1980) at the University of Bologna. Since 2001 he has been Head of the HSE and Risk Analysis Division in RINA Consulting (formerly D’Appolonia) where he has managed and coordinated all the engineering and consulting services done for national and international clients. He is now expert consultant on Process Safety and Risk Analysis.
He has a wide experience on PHA (HAZOP/HAZID) Analysis with the role of Team Leader/Facilitator with National and International Clients for Chemical and Oil&Gas Plants. He has directly performed or supervised Risk Analysis studies for complex projects of a wide range of industries, including H2 Plant, Oil&Gas, Petrochemical and Chemical, Refinery, LNG Installations including Floating LNG Facilities, Power production and Storage. He has also participated in major EU funded research programs on Risk analysis (Integrisk, Infrastress, Depire) and in national research programs on risk analysis modeling (ARIPAR).
He combines professional consultancy activity with training and teaching activities in the context of post-graduate university masters and at leading companies at national and international level.
With Extensive Expertise in: Process Safety (Quantitative Risk Assessment: QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA), Dropped Object, Consequence Analysis, Bowtie, SIMOPS, PHA (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FMECA studies), and Functional Safety (SIL Allocation, SIL Verification) studies.
