Bill Byrom has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 30 years. Combining the practical experience of roles within clinical development with a keen interest in leveraging technology, Bill is a key strategic thinker helping to shape the direction and application of eClinical solutions. Bill is a thought leader in patient-facing technologies, including electronic patient-reported outcome solutions, the use of wearables and connected devices, and new novel technology-derived endpoints. Bill is an active participant with the Critical Path Institute’s ePRO Consortium, and leads a research team within the DIA Study Endpoints Community on the use of wearables. He is a frequent conference speaker and has authored over 70 publications, including two industry textbooks on electronic patient-reported outcomes. His research has included work on bring your own device for eCOA, the use of wearables in clinical trials, and novel use of technology to develop new clinical endpoints to study health.

Willie started his consulting business in 2018 after spending more than 20 years in the clinical research industry working for CROs and technology companies in Germany, the UK, the US and Ireland. He served as the inaugural Vice Director of the C-Path ePRO Consortium, shaping the initial work of the founding members, and is an active member in DIA and ISPOR research groups. In recent years, he initiated and directed research on multiple patient-facing technologies (i.e. ePRO/BYOD, Wearables, Patient Burden, Fraud Detection via Machine Learning) and co-authored more than 40 publications and two books on electronic Patient Reported Outcome. Willie successfully developed multiple product and service lines in the eCOA space, including the first dedicated ePRO Management group within a global CRO. His work has been recognized by his industry peers by their inclusion of him in the PharmaVoice100 in 2015 and the CenterWatch Top 20 Innovators in 2018.
