Course description
The duplex and super duplex family of alloys have a great combination of corrosion resistance and strength at a relatively low-cost relative to alloys with comparable properties which have made them a popular choice for many industrial applications. However, they are not the easiest of alloys to manufacture and failure to control the processing steps can lead to serious production problems which can result in significant project schedule delays and cost penalties.
The aim of this course is to understand the metallurgy, properties, and applications of this group of alloys, and, by understanding the required processing controls, including the study of a series of “lessons learned” real-life manufacturing problems, to allow the participants to avoid similar problems and attendant delays on future projects.
