Vikas Kumar is the Project Director leading the Coker Replacement Project for Pine Bend Refinery, Flint Hills Resources, LLC. Vikas leads a project team to manage the full life cycle of the Pine Bend Coker Replacement Project from origination through execution and start up. He joined Flint Hills Resources in 2015 at the Pine Bend Refinery and is focused on this project. Vikas started his career with oil refineries in India and then with a Canadian Oil Sands operator before joining Flint Hills. Over the years he has held various positions in operations and projects, most recently, Vikas was the Project Manager for another delayed Coker project in Canada. Vikas has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Panjab University, Chandigarh and a Master’s in Chemical Engineering, University of Alberta in Edmonton. Flint Hills Resources is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries, Inc., which is one of the largest private companies in America according to Forbes. Koch companies have a presence in more than 60 countries and employ more than 100,000 people, with about 60,000 in the United States. Over 12 years with the Horizon Oil Sands Project owned by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. Initially Primary Upgrading followed by Secondary Upgrading complete project lifecycle with international and national EPCs, Operations Manager for Primary Upgrading (delayed Cokers, Sulphur trains), Project Manager for Debottlenecking DBM, Coker Fire Rebuild and Coker Expansion projects.
