Course description
In times of tight refining margins, the need for adopting innovative strategies aimed at remaining competitive in the volatile product markets are on top of the agenda for the refineries and other downstream plants. In recent years, we have seen a strong trend towards revamps, upgrades and transformations rather than grassroots capital projects, because revamps involve less costs and capital expenditures and often achieve better, quicker payback and ROI with less risk. Therefore, revamps are among the most compelling investment opportunities for refineries and downstream oil & gas plants. They are also a key tool for ensuring that assets continue to be relevant to the prevailing market conditions as the owner can use a revamp to increase production capacity, improve the quality of its final product or modify their configurations to better match the current market dynamics and maximize value. Also, the refinery industry has been discussing refinery and petrochemical integration for years now and revamps offer the opportunity to improve production flexibility by integrating it with petrochemicals. Last but not least, many revamps have recently been aimed at restructuring refining operations to develop eco-friendly processes, improve overall emissions to fulfill environmental regulations and ensure long-term competitiveness as part of their energy transition plans. All in all, revamp projects have proven to be an efficient solution to improve operating margins and respond to changing market demands.
Our trainers bring decades of practical experience with planning and executing major revamps, upgrades and transformation projects at largest downstream operators across the globe. During this intensive 4-day training, we will look in detail at every step of planning and executing a major revamp project illustrated with real life case studies from projects executed at refineries, fertilizer and ethylene plants. On top of that, we will also refer to the recent energy transition projects every step of the way during this training course.
