Julian has been surrounded by the construction industry since a young age, working for his family contracting business in South Africa. Project management has been bred into his DNA. After graduating with an NDip. Marketing & Sales Management from the University of Nelson Mandela, and earning his National Technical Certificate, Julian went on to pursue his career in the construction industry. This combination of qualifications and experiences has been integral to his successes as a business leader and mentor to the individuals who work on his project teams.
Often engaged as project director for publicly traded companies, Julian has completed multiple projects for the steel and energy sectors. He has assisted with the tax equity financing of multiple energy developments including the first tax equity financing for a utility scale 50MW solar development in the USA. He is currently managing a portfolio of 600MW of wind power development in North America for a planned COD of 2020.
Julian’s interests are integrating technologies & ideas between different industries. This has been especially satisfying while managing substantial investments for a large global steel producer. Both hardware and software are changing at rapid speed, business processes are more dynamic than ever with project budgets tightening. It is those who embrace the change that find greater success and it is here that he finds the greatest stimulus.
Julian is a husband, and father of three teenagers with whom he enjoys travelling, camping, skiing, hiking, and exploring the cycling trails around his home in the Niagara region.
