Dr. Akilesh Ramasamy, a regular resource person and invited speaker in numerous healthcare conferences, is currently working at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry – an autonomous institute of National Importance. He is a disruptive innovator in healthcare with special interest in healthcare quality improvement and change implementation. He is actively involved in educating the Quality Council Nurses at his institution in concepts of Teamwork Strategies, Patient safety and Quality Improvement methods. He is also analysing new opportunities for healthcare innovations with applicability of concepts of Game Theory and Complexity science to the science of patient safety and healthcare decision making. As a clinician, he is a Maxillofacial Surgeon and an ardent patient safety advocate. He is also a Certified Master TeamSTEPPS Trainer to help train healthcare professionals to use team strategies to enhance performance and patient safety. He is currently the Chief Section Editor in International Archives of Medicine for two sections on Craniomaxillofacial surgery and Applied technology in Medicine. In addition, he also holds advisory and editorial roles for International Arabic Journal of Antimicrobial Agents and for the Internet Medical Society.
