Alex Choinski is Counsel at ExxonMobil Global Services Company. His responsibilities focus on advising the Company on drilling projects and services procurement for upstream exploration and production fields as well as midstream and other development projects around the globe. Prior to joining ExxonMobil, Alex spent more than a decade practicing at three of the world’s premier law firms – Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, Baker Botts and as a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery – specializing in international project finance, project construction and development and acquisition finance in oil and gas, power, mining, transportation and other industry sectors. Alex’s experience includes serving as lead outside counsel for major investment banks, multilateral and export credit institutions, governments and multinational developers on a number of complex international projects transactions, of which some have been awarded “Deal of the Year” accolades in Project Finance magazine. His transactional work experience spans the globe, with special focus on Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Alex has been recognized in the Legal 500 and in the International Who’s Who of Project Finance Lawyers. He has been interviewed and cited by the energy media, including Platts Energy TV, CNBC.com, Oil & Gas Journal, Power Magazine and Law 360, on a variety of matters relating to oil and gas. Prior to his legal career, Alex served in state government and as a government relations/legislative specialist for a national trade association and a highly recognized national non-profit organization. Alex earned his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center and his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. Alex is fluent in Spanish and has negotiated various commercial transactions (including EPC contracts) in that language.
