Following graduation from Aberdeen university, Gus started working for BG group some 15 years ago. He has since performed a variety of roles in gas distribution, from Asset management, network design, engineering policy, operations and strategy. He currently heads up SGN’s Innovation & new technology team. Starting largely from scratch in 2012 we’ve built a portfolio of R&D projects with a value in excess of £50m. Most important to note is that we have committed more than £20m to the rollout of innovation into business as usual. Key breakthroughs have included Biomethane to gas grid (Didcot) the first in the UK, keyhole technology (the core & vac), Robotics and gas quality (Oban). The Robotics project discussed today is a £7.5m project funded via the Network Innovation competition that Gus lead and won in 2013.
