Azizin Zainudin is currently the Head of Capability Management of Group HSE Division, PETRONAS. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Hygiene from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from National University of Malaysia (UKM). He has 24 years working experience with PETRONAS, assigned as the production chemist, environmental management executive, IH executive ,staff IH, principal IH/Discipline Head of IH prior to his current position. Azizin is the Vice President of the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association (MIHA) and a board member of International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA), the world body for Occupational Hygiene Managing IH Programs, Issues and challenges in Malaysia Industrial Hygiene (IH) is the science of chronic risk management where the health effect can only be seen or confirmed after years of exposure. The Industrial hygienist plays important role to protect the health of the employee that requires control or improvement to the workplace situation. Industrial hygiene is not yet universally recognized as a profession, in many countries, framework legislation is emerging that will lead to its establishment. For Malaysia, Industrial Hygiene is mostly regulatory driven for hazards such as noise and chemicals where the availability & capability of IH is key in meeting the legal requirements.
