Charles Dormer brings over 35 years of experience in healthcare and pharmaceutical R&D to his executive coaching and consulting work. In his extensive corporate career, he has worked for the some of top pharmaceutical companies including SmithKline Beecham, GlaxoSmithKline, Wyeth, Pfizer and AstraZeneca. During that time, Charles held a number of roles ranging from strategy definition and implementation, management, research, operations, reengineering, organization development, business redesign, portfolio and alliance management and chief of staff activities. He has been involved in major mergers and acquisitions within the pharmaceutical industry and major change efforts. He has developed and demonstrated leadership and project management skills, conceptual, system and analytical thinking, consulting and coaching skills to delivery added value to customers. He has been involved in the governance committees and key decision-making bodies. In addition, he has worked in support departments, such as Finance and Business Strategy, IT and Human Resources. Though serving as a coach and consultant informally throughout his corporate career, Charles’ career transitioned to becoming an executive coach/consultant based on his passion for changing organizations and helping leaders to maximize their productivity and success, development leadership capabilities, and successfully manage change and uncertainty. He draws upon his experience and insights into what works well and what does not work so well, to ensure his coaching and consulting work are grounded in business needs and context. He brings a broad range of insights into what works well and what does not work so well, along with knowledge and experience of working in large organizations and collaborations. His focus for consulting is working with leaders to maximize collaborations between organizations of different cultures and sizes (e.g., academia, large companies and start-ups). He has Master of Science (Honors) degree and a Master of Philosophy degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Corporate Coach International Program (RTC) and has Hogan Assessment Certification. He is a member of the International Coaching Federation and Life Sciences Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and has a Level 7 qualification, with that group, in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. He is also a board member of the local Philadelphia Chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants. Finally, Charles is passionate about sharing his learning and experience through teaching and mentoring. In recent years he has given guest lectures at Georgetown University, Alvernia University and PennState University, focused on strategic leadership and managing the business of science.
