Chris Deere is the Chief Executive Officer at Rainbow’s End Theme Park in Auckland, New Zealand. Chris has been involved in the industry for over 20 years. Chris worked his way up in the industry to the position of Operations Manager, a role he held for 5 years before being promoted to CEO, a role he has now held for 10 years. Since taking over as CEO, Rainbow’s End has achieved significant growth and received a number of prestigious accolades including 4 ‘International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ (IAAPA) Brass Ring awards. The company’s turnover has doubled and the park attendance has grown by 62%. Chris is a Certified Attractions Executive and has been a regular speaker and panellist at both the IAAPA Attractions Expo in the US and the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) conference in Australia. He is involved in a number of tourism related advisory groups and has been a member of the IAAPA Human Resources Committee for the past 3 years. Prior to his time at Rainbow’s End Chris spent 7 years in the New Zealand Police Force where he worked in a variety of roles, completed his Sergeants exams and qualified as a youth aid officer. Chris’ background as a police officer has enabled him to develop excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with people from all walks of life with ease. Chris understands the immense value of people and the importance of values, vision and strategy to provide the team with a road map that they are excited to follow.
