Dean Korošec is Head of Information & Insurance Technology (CIO) at Vzajemna, the largest health and second largest overall insurance company in Slovenia. He received his PhD from Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France and University of Maribor, Slovenia, in the field of electronics, applied informatics and computer science in 1999. After a decade of working on various research and applied projects and teaching at the University of Maribor, he entered financial industry in 2003 by joining Nova KBM, second largest bank in the country, as project manager for development of Moneta, today still the leading Slovenian open payment system for both mobile operators and banks. He became Head of IT in 2006 and led several other projects, e.g. development of a new generation e- and m-banking service for retail customers in 2009 and 2010. In 2013 he started in the same role with the Austrian daughter bank of Nova KBM to successfully manage transformation of its core banking system. In 2014 he joined Vzajemna to support its ambitious product development and sales growth efforts. Dr. Korošec has been a member of expert bodies at national and European levels and regularly speaks and attends international industry events with focus mainly on mobile and electronic financial services.
