Florian Montel is a member of the Discovery Research organization of Boehringer Ingelheim.
Florian did his Ph.D. @ Sanofi in Paris in the CNS department under the supervision of the University of Paris VI for the total synthesis of a natural product followed by a Post-doctorate @ Novartis in Basel.
After that, he spent 8 years @ UCB in Belgium being project leader of CNS projects (epilepsy, cognition, pain or Parkinson’s disease, etc…). He was also implied in the development of PET ligands; his work led to the finding of the first human PET tracer for the SV2A receptor.
Since 2014, he is project leader in the Medicinal Chemistry department @ Biberach leading Respiratory or CNS projects for various indications.
For 2 years, he also leads the Boerhinger Ingelheim NME Open Innovation team. The major milestone of this project it to launch in November the Boehringer Ingelheim Open Innovation portal where any researchers will be able to order for free and, without any strings attached, some of the best pre-clinical molecules designed @ Boehringer Ingelheim, including their data package, to foster innovation or to submit novel biology research proposals.
